Shirley MacLennan
Site Leader - Director of Care
My name is Shirley MacLennan and I have been a registered nurse for 30 years, most of which has been dedicated to caring for seniors. I chose my profession with the goal of providing the highest Quality of Life for residents in care. I believe that all our residents have the right to be treated with respect and dignity. It is the role of staff to build a supportive relationship in which the residents feel cared for and understood.
I have worked in many different roles throughout my career from being an RCA, front line nurse in Medical and Surgical floors as well as in LTC. I was the Regional Manager for 5 Assisted Living/Independent buildings located in the Lower Mainland for 3 years, I have been a Director of Care for 15 years and now, I love my role as the Site Leader-DOC at Shaughnessy Care Centre.
To me this is more than just a job; it is my passion.
My life outside of work is dedicated to my family. I am married, and have 3 wonderful boys. Although, my children no longer live at home, we remain very close and enjoy our Sunday dinners and many activities together. I also raise and breed Toy Australian Shepard dogs. Currently, I have 3 dogs and they keep me very busy and active.

Welcome to the Family
Founded by Al and Jenny Jina, Park Place Seniors Living is a family-owned and operated company based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Starting out as a nurse, Jenny has worked with Seniors her entire life. Together with her husband Al, they opened their first location in Nelson, BC in 1993 with a goal to enrich the lives of seniors and define a new quality of care.
Today, the Park Place family has grown to include more than 35 residences located in communities throughout BC, Alberta and Ontario. Coquitlam is home to two Park Place residences including Shaughnessy Seniors Community, offering private pay long term care, and Cartier House Seniors Community, which also offers long term care.
